Our Story

OUR MISSION

Howard Park Christian Church exists to embody the present Kingdom of God by practicing the love of Christ in concrete, visible ways. We are a community committed to Scripture, worship, justice, compassion, and shared abundance—where every person is welcomed, every voice is valued, and every life is invited into wholeness.

We believe the Kingdom of God is not only a future hope, but a present calling. It is revealed whenever the hungry are fed, the vulnerable are protected, the excluded are welcomed, and freedom is sought not only for ourselves, but for others. Rooted in the way of the Disciples of Christ denomination, we seek to live as a faithful community of love, truth, and courageous service for the good of our neighbors and the healing of the world.

What We Believe

Everyone Belongs.

At Howard Park Christian Church, we believe the Kingdom of God is made visible when love is practiced, truth is sought, and people serve one another with compassion and courage. Our faith is rooted in the way of Jesus, who calls us to welcome, learn, and live together as a community of grace.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and has a place at the table. No one is beyond the reach of God’s love, and no story is too small to matter. We seek to be a church where people are welcomed with dignity, listened to with care, and invited into a shared life of faith, hope, and love.

“There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”

— Galatians 3:28 — NRSVue

Embrace Truth.

We believe truth is worth seeking with humility, courage, and open hearts. Scripture is central to our life together, and we gather around it not to claim superiority, but to be shaped by God’s wisdom. We welcome honest questions, faithful study, and sincere conversation as we grow toward wholeness in Christ.

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.””

— John 18:31-32

Serving Together.

We believe faith becomes real when it is lived in service. The Kingdom of God is revealed when the hungry are fed, the lonely are accompanied, the vulnerable are protected, and neighbors are loved in practical ways. Together, we seek to serve our community so that God’s justice, compassion, and shared abundance may be known among us.

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

— John 12:26
